Internal metrics snapshot for an all-hands

The chief of staff does this before each all-hands. The deck needs a metrics snapshot: one big number, a label, a comparison line. Next month the slab should look the same and the numbers should not.

This is deck work. You’re filling a slide, not opening a chart tool. The numbers have to exist as a file first. Export does not fetch metrics.

The job is to render that slab from a metrics.json you already have. Write the file by hand, or let whatever already produces the numbers write it. Then export. The file has to exist first.

Give Lerret a React component under .lerret/ and optional data. export writes a PNG. Same component, data swapped, many images. There is no batch product, no queue, no orchestrator.

The component is .lerret/ops/metric-slab.jsx. It shows one big number, a label, and a comparison line. That’s the face of the slide. You’re not building a chart tool. You’re rendering a slab the deck can import.

Data is metrics.json, written by hand or by whatever already produces the numbers. Pass it with --data. This case is the slab from a local file. There is no live pull during export. If the numbers aren’t in the file yet, write them first. The next all-hands is a new metrics.json and the same component.

The image is a PNG 1920×1080 for the deck. Full 16:9, one snapshot, imported into whatever deck tool you already use. Lerret writes the image. It doesn’t build the deck.

You use Lerret because you get consistent slabs every month with no chart tool round-trip. The numbers are the file. The slab is the component. If the file is wrong, the image is wrong in a way you can diff the JSON for. Export will not call out for numbers. The file has to exist first. A chart-tool export or a one-off screenshot will not stay consistent month to month.

The big number, the label, and the comparison line are whatever metrics.json holds that month. Next month you replace the file. The slab stays. Export still does not fetch.
